The Southwest Missouri Retriever Club(SMRC) is a new club that has become a licensed club by both American
Kennel Club/AKC and United Kennel Club/HRC in 2004.
Our primary goal is to help members to train their retrievers in the goal of preservation of game.
We were organized for the purpose of:
(A) Encouraging and promoting the role of pure-bred retrievers as hunting dogs and to provide a vehicle for retriever
handlers to improve their skills and their education and working knowledge of retriever breeds in the following applications:
gundog and hunting test competitions.
(B) To provide an atmosphere of companionship between retriever owners and handlers, and to promote their involvement
in training sessions and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at hunt tests.
(C) To conduct sanctioned and licensed AKC hunting tests and UKC/HRC hunt tests under the rules and regulations of the
American Kennel Club and United Kennel Club/Hunting Retriever Club.
